Oregon Lighthouses
There is something romantic about lighthouses. Their mystery
and beauty captivate us. What would it have been like to live as a lighthouse
keeper, protector and guardian of ships passing in the night?
Any visit to the Oregon Coast should include a visit to
a lighthouse. During the spring and summer months several lighthouses
conduct tours for the public.
Yaquina
Head Lighthouse is located just north of Newport. Tours are conducted
between 12-4 daily. The large park includes a unique beach with lava cobblestones,
(watch your step) hiking trail up Salal Hill and an interpretive center.
In Newport visit the Historic Yaquina
Bay Lighthouse.
Heceta
Head Lighthouse is one of the most visited destinations on the coast,
located in Lane County between Florence and Yachats, Oregon. This is an
Oregon State Park more
info.
The Coquille River Lighthouse in Bandon, Oregon is located
at Bullards Beach State Park and can accommodate campers and RV's. More
info.
Cape Arago Lighthouse is not accessible
by the public but can be viewed from a distance on Cape Arago Highway
on the way to Shore Acres State Park and Botanical Gardens.
